Home Depot Nabs NEMF as Core Carrier
Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, has again named NEMF (New England Motor Freight) as core carrier for the New England and Middle Atlantic Regions. NEMF was originally selected as a core carrier for Home Depot in 1997.
NEMF trucks pick up both prepaid and collect merchandise from vendors who supply products to Home Depot and deliver it to some 270 Home Depot warehouse stores throughout a 13-state region.
"Home Depot is one of the most outstanding companies in the country," said NEMF Executive Vice President Jon Shevell. "They are one of our largest customers, and we're delighted to be continuing our partnership with them"
Many large national companies have instituted a system of "preferred" or "core" carriers to help reduce shipping costs and to improve efficiency by leveraging tonnage. Home Depot uses a selection process to choose a preferred group of carriers with whom they do business across the country. Only transportation companies meeting the highest service standards are chosen as core carriers. Home Depot then routes all its freight through these core carriers.
NEMF (www.nemf.com) is a regional, family-owned, LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier based in Elizabeth, NJ. It operates 30 terminals throughout the Northeast, Florida, Puerto Rico and Canada.
