The Shevell Group of Companies makes commitment to the Planet. (April 2008)
April 8, 2008 Elizabeth, NJ – New England Motor Freight (NEMF) part of the Shevell Group of companies, announced today that it has decided to Go Green. Starting with the new transit guide and followed by all other print collateral, NEMF and its sister companies will be printing all marketing materials on recycled paper stock. "It all comes down to responsibility to our planet, stated Ed Generous, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, NEMF. The trucking industry is not always recognized as environmentally friendly. But at NEMF we feel we can make a significant impact in a positive way and hopefully influence others to do the same."
NEMF continues to work at making a difference, as a voluntary member of SmartWay Transport. SmartWay is a partnership between various freight industry sectors and EPA, which establishes incentives for fuel efficiency improvements and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. This initiative aims to reduce between 33 - 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions per year. NEMF is committed to measure and improve the efficiency of their freight operations, using EPA-developed tools that quantify the benefits of a number of fuel-saving strategies.
